We are looking for U.S. historical tourist destinations – to include Native American history, European settlement, African American history, and more – through the time of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. Our goal is to be as inclusive as possible.

Articles must be your original work and should be about 500 to 2,000 words in length, dealing with a U.S. historical destination that is open to tourism. If possible, submit photos of the location along with your article. The style of your article should be more conversational than technical. Destinations should consist of more than just a historical marker or open field.

Video clips should be no longer than about 7 minutes and should be in .mp4 format.

By submitting an article, photo, video or illustration you are certifying that it is your original work and that you have not plagiarized someone else’s work. You are also certifying that you are the owner of the copyright to the work and have authority to grant permission for us to post it on this blog. You are granting American History Road Trip, and the editor of this blog, a non-exclusive right to post your article, photo, video or illustration on the blog. You understand, however, that there is no promise or guarantee that it will be posted, and you understand that no compensation will be paid to you in any event. You also understand and agree that your article may be edited for spelling, grammar, usage, readability and accuracy. You understand and agree that your photos or illustrations may be cropped or resized as necessary. If posted, you will be credited for your work.
